Program Overview

The Disaster Response ECHO Program, led by Sustainable Development Response Organization (SuDRO) in collaboration with Shield Consultation Company, is designed to strengthen emergency preparedness and disaster response capacity among frontline health professionals and responders in Sudan and across Africa.

Utilizing the internationally recognized Project ECHO model, the program delivers structured training, case-based discussions, practical simulations, and peer-to-peer learning.

The initiative aims to:
• Build skilled and coordinated Rapid Response Teams (RRTs).
• Institutionalize a disaster-ready culture within healthcare systems.
• Establish a sustainable regional network that enhances coordination, resilience, and effective crisis leadership.

Program Objectives
1. Strengthen disaster response competencies in emergency preparedness and crisis management.
2. Enhance case-based learning tailored to Sudan-specific disaster challenges, including ethical dilemmas, START/JumpSTART triage systems, and coordination mechanisms.
3. Advance advocacy and protection skills, with emphasis on rights, dignity, and community engagement for internally displaced persons (IDPs), refugees, women, and children.
4. Promote continuous learning and digital preparedness through the ECHO model and the establishment of integrated Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) across five Sudanese states.
