As part of the project to improve adolescent girls’ health and well-being in Northern and North Kordofan States, SuDRO, in collaboration with CORE and the Ministries of Health, organized an intensive five-day community outreach training targeting local health promoters and data collectors.
The training was designed to strengthen participants’ capacity in reproductive health, gender-based violence response, and social behaviour change, enabling them to deliver knowledge and awareness messages to their communities despite the ongoing conflict.

More than 60 trainees participated through a combination of in-person and online sessions. The content covered project objectives, principles of responding to gender-based violence, reproductive health and rights during crises, and the development of culturally sensitive community health messages. The training concluded with hands-on practice, including role plays and simulations of community dialogue that helped participants apply their learning in practical scenari

Evaluation results showed significant improvement in knowledge, ranging between 70% and 90%, along with active engagement and discussions that linked theoretical concepts to real-life field challenges. Participants praised the relevance and quality of the materials, though some challenges were noted, such as decreased attendance after breaks and difficulties tracking participation in virtual sessions.

This training marks an important step in empowering local health promoters to lead community awareness and outreach on reproductive health and gender-based violence, ultimately contributing to better health outcomes for adolescent girls and greater resilience within their communities.
