Cholera and Dengue Fever Awareness Campaign in North Kordofan State
In response to the recent severe outbreak of cholera in North Kordofan State, the North Kordofan Medical Response Team (SUDRO_CMRT), in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, conducted an intensive awareness campaign from November 6th to 9th, 2024.

The campaign aimed to increase public awareness about the disease, its causes, prevention methods, and to provide first aid to affected individuals.

The campaign activities included organizing awareness campaigns in various vital locations in the state, such as markets, hospitals, and shelters.900 informative brochures were distributed to citizens, providing comprehensive information about the disease and prevention methods.

Various segments of the population, including men, women, and children, were targeted to ensure broad coverage.

A total of 1766 individuals benefited from the campaign, covering vital areas such as the Grand Market, Kuwait Children’s Hospital, Dar Al-Momenat, and Al-Aroos Internal Complex.

Based on feedback from beneficiaries, the team recommends the following: providing chlorine tablets, soap, and sanitizers to citizens along with awareness of their importance; providing mosquito nets and appropriate treatments to combat mosquitoes in shelters; and continuing and following up on awareness campaigns periodically to ensure the sustainability of the results.

The awareness campaign achieved significant success in raising public awareness of cholera and dengue fever.
However, there is a need for further integrated efforts to combat and eradicate the disease.
